UPDATES:
The latest addition to the eamgf.org website is the 'Guestmap' page. The idea is to put our mark on the East Anglia region, so log on and get posting. It should be easy to do, but if you need any technical help drop me an email on webmaster@eamgf.org
We started off our eamgf year with a trip down to the Herts Wheels region.
For our monthly meet in February we took a trip into deepest Suffolk to The Kings Head (The Low House) in Laxfield. Jon lead the convoy, with no Sat Nav, and amazingly only took one wrong turn - which was admittedly driving straight past the pub.
The pub was a 15th century thatched building, that's pretty old. The first thing we did of course was to make our way to the bar, but ah wait…..there is no bar! The beer is served traditionally straight from the cask in the tap room - nice. For lovers of real ale they had a great selection of Adnams real ale. A special treat was the Adnams 'Oyster' which is only served in February and is very limited. It is made with East Anglian Pale Ale Malt, Crystal Malt, Chocolate (mmmm) Malt, roasted barley and English Goldings hops - and it tastes as good as it sounds. Shame that we were all driving, and had to act responsibly! The food was top notch as well as the hospitality. In fact it was so good that Allan & Lyn decided to stay over in one of the pubs self contained cottages. The accommodation was also first class by all accounts.
The landlords have invited us to stay over for a camping weekend, in the field in their back garden. So if you are up for a summer excursion let us know and we will try to get it booked.
A group went over to join the South Mids Sportsters first meet which was a small convoy of three cars, Lunch was a fantastic carvery (yorkshire puds the size of soup bowls -yummy) and well worth the price only the weather let us down
For our March meet we did something a little special and decided to have a Saturday meet for a change - and there was a method to our madness!
We decided to have a meet at the MGOC headquarters in Swavesey, so that we could check out the shop, followed by a pub meet. Naturally we phoned the MGOC first to give them some pre-warning that we were going to invade. Fortunately they were quite responsive, and welcomed us with open arms. We were privileged enough to be given a guided tour by Richard Monk (General Manager at MGOC), which included an introductory talk about the future of MG / Nanjing and how MGOC were involved. This was followed by a comprehensive tour of the MGOC including the admin, the workshop, and the warehouse (no parts were stolen - honest!!). If you haven't been to the MGOC before you will be surprised by the size of the operation. The tour further demonstrated how much of a going concern the company is - and their involvement in the MG scene - both past and future. The tour concluded with a look and presentation of the development MG ZT XPower 500 that the MGOC had bought and finished building themselves - if you thought that they only catered for older MG's (B's Midgets) etc you would be pleasantly surprised!
This was followed by a country run to a pub for lunch and a natter.
On Sunday 01/04/07 we assembled for a mini convoy to Toddington Services to meet up with the South Mids Sportsters. From there a larger convoy went to the annual event at Brooklands. Photos of the event are available on our website.

On April 15th we did a run to the Herts Wheels meet in Hitchin - to celebrate the their first Birthday. Everyone, in typical birthday party style, received a goody bag full of party tricks and of course a slice of birthday cake......mmmmmmmm - Click here for photos of the event.

Now that summer is approaching, we will be looking into doing some mid week meets in the evening.
Know of a good pub in Norfolk, Suffolk or Cambs?
This year we want to get out and about across the region - especially when the top down weather returns - so we can do some nice country runs!
If you know of any good pubs / restaurants / venues, or have heard of a good one and want to check it out, let us know. As reps we will do the organising - so no need to worry about the difficult stuff. We are setting up a list of pubs to visit on our forum. If you can help please let us know by adding details on there bly clicking here.
